a question about the malwarebites' anti malware program

ok, so after many tries i got the program to install. the problem is... i can't make it run. i somehow acquired the spyware 2009 malware virus and can not remove it. i finally got my malwarebites' app to download and now i can't get it to run. am i doing something wrong? please help.
