Hi guys had the exact same prob with a dell laptop. Pulling my hair out the last few days. Best way to get sound back is by reinstalling the old driver for sigmatel. Try dells R122161 patch. That should get the sound back. Make sure you have also installed windows kb888111 before hand.

Only problem with all this is that when you reboot you still get the error "sttray.exe localize string could not be found"

Havent figured that bit out but it should at least get you back listening to music!!
