not bad comp specs, but still slow?

hi der, i dont know, but my comp is very slow in gaming, im using windows xp home edition sp2, my processor is pentium4 1.7ghz, my RAM is 512mb, my videocard is 128mb, my harddrive is 40gb, i have dsl connections,, but why my pc is still slow in gaming, even i met the minimum requirements, or sometimes the recommended req. of specs for that kind of game.. i have no money to buy a new pc :)
can someone pls tell me the prob, or what i have to do.. pls pls,.

I don't think, your computer is really good for gaming. The processor is not that fast, and for sure, you need more RAM, and better video card.
