This blue screen pops up when I try to boot up. (See attached Jpeg) Won't boot into safe mode either.

I am trying to an old computer up and running for our 13 yr old son. Put a new hard drive in from another computer... Could be why? Does this have to be terminated any differently?

Pentium III

When you said: Put a new hard drive in from another computer.

Did This have windows loaded on it?

It as Windows Professional 2000 on it, as this screen comes up upon boot. I can get into safe mode using F8, but then it goes into the blue screen.

OK, You can't swap a drive from one system to another.
Windows keeps track of the hardware of the machine where it was installed.

You need to re-install windows.

Okay, so I have a copy of XP and it says that it can't access the drive I have in the machine and won't allow me to install. Same problem... What the... do I do this? I have looked all over the net and I can't find a solution other then buying a new drive?

I boot from CD.

At the Welcome to Setup page, press Enter. Press F8 to accept the Windows XP Licensing Agreement. You'll be asked if you want to repair your existing Windows XP installation. Press ESC to bypass the repair and install a fresh copy. My partition is listed but then it says 'Disk cannot be accessed."

Whole new issue now and I didn't even touch the computer at all. I just shut it off for a while... and when I turned it on to start the install again..

...Now it says the computer doesn't have a hard drive attached. (See attached jpegs.)

Three Possibilities:
Drive isn't connected properly.
Drive is Dead.
IDE Channel has gone bad.

This shouldn't Matter, but, take out the drive.
(Set the Jumper setting to Master.)

Attach the cable to the last connector on the Ribbon Cable.

Make sure it's seated firmly. Both Ends.

Let me know what happens.

So, we found another HD in an old computer. Stuck it in and now the XP install is working. So, it must have been a bad HD, I even tried to change the Jumpers with no luck.

Thanks. Looks like we are on our way...
