I am using the MSI KT4 Ultra (MS-6590) motherboard and it according to the book it is an AGP 8x compatible motherboard and the video card I was using is the Geforce FX 5200 128mb AGP 8x card

It seems to work fine in windows but because of wierd characters showing up on the screen I cannot change anything in the BIOS if I needed to.

Any suggestions?

Defective graphics card. Those FX5200's die quickly.
