I had to use my restore/recovery CD today to wipe my hard drive due to a virus that I couldn't get rid of. I've downloaded and installed Mozilla Firefox. I'm having problems with my scroll bar. It is very jerky as I move it down, instead of a nice smooth movement. Does anyone know how to fix this? I've tried the settings under Control Panel/Mouse, but that doesn't seem to do anything. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hello jandrix,

After reinstalling Windows have you installed the latest drivers for the system (chipset, graphics, etc)?

Click Start > Run > type devmgmt.msc

When Device Manager opens do you have any ? or ! beside any devices?

What is the make/model of the computer?

Do you have a cd that has the Drivers? If not then you can download the Drivers from the manufacturer website

It's an emachine T6420 Desktop PC. I saved everything when we got the computer, but I do not have any CD's for the drivers.

Could this also be a problem with my sound? When I try to listen to an online music player, it's sounds all garbled as if underwater.

Thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate it.

Once you get the updated Drivers that should fix your problem. There are some Drivers listed on the Emachines website for the system

however they are not updated. You can download them or try and find an updated Driver on the Nvidia website.

I went to this website http://downloads.ema...eadme_en_em.txt and followed the instructions for my model/make. It said it couldn't find any driver that was compatible with my hardware. So now what? :)

Your video driver: http://emachines.com...amp;model=T6420
Printer driver should be on a CD, which came with the printer.
3rd device, hard to say. What else is not working?

That link you gave me was the one I used earlier. When I follow the directions, it gives me a message that says:

The NVIDA set up program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware.

I have the printer CD, so I'll use that.

the other thing that isn't working is my sound. Music players sound like it's under water and garbled for the most part.

Has a different video card been added into the system other than the onbaird graphics that shipped with the system?

Download, and install Everest: http://www.majorgeek...wnload4181.html
Open it, click Computer, then Summary.
In upper menu, go Report>Quick Report-Summary
Save it in text file, and paste it in your next post.
Don't include anything under the line Debug - PCI

Try NVIDIA C51 Chipset Driver (include chipset\lan\sata raid driver) from here: http://www.gigabyte....?ProductID=2281
Be patient, the page seems to be slow to load.
