Since yesterday, all web browsers on my system have been suffering constant redirections to sites not related to the URLs I type in. I'm even presented with a Google homepage when trying to connect to Microsoft update page. As I spend much of my day using the net, this has ground my working day to an almost complete halt. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated:

HijackThis informs me that, for some reason, the system is denying write access to the 'hosts' file. Not sure if this is relevant, but included here for completeness.
