Computer is about 4 years old and Im trying to get faster. My computer has a Pentium 4 processor and the computer is a Dell Dimension 8400, I'm sick of my games lagging.

If you want to play new, demanding games, probably, you need new computer.
If you want to play 4-years old games, your computer should be fine.
Hard to say without knowing what games you want to play, and what are requirements for those games.
