Hi

I have tried everything on your list - as you can sort of see from my hijack this log

AdAware
Spybot
CWS
Updates
Antivirus
etc etc etc

This is where I am - I am thinking of going in and having the computer wiped but would like to avoid that if possible - don't have cds anymore for a lot of my software and am poor college student who can't afford it. Here is my log - please advise

1. Boot into safemode by tapping F8 on your keyboard while your PC is starting up you will get a menu select safemode.

2 While in safemode open Hijackthis and click scan. Then tick and fix the following in Hijackthis with all windows closed except Hijackthis.

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = websearch.drsnsrch.com/q.cgi?q=
O2 - BHO: DLMaxObj Class - {00000000-59D4-4008-9058-080011001200} - C:\WINDOWS\dlmax.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: Band Class - {0007522A-2297-43C1-8EB1-C90B0FF20DA5} - C:\WINDOWS\enhtb.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {017C20C1-F86F-11D8-9B25-000ACD002AE3} - C:\WINDOWS\Helper101.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [nbthajnq] C:\WINDOWS\System32\sevqnnoa.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [checkrun] C:\windows\system32\elitewaw32.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [BMan] C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\msw\BMan1.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [47oU36g] rsmxzoom.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Lw78RWMnV] rsaueng.exe

3. Delete the files.

C:\WINDOWS\Helper101.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\sevqnnoa.exe
C:\windows\system32\elitewaw32.exe and any other file that starts with elite and ends with 32
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\msw\BMan1.exe1
c:\windows\rsmxzoom.exe or c:\windows\system32\rsmxzoom.exe
c:\windows\rsaueng.exe or c:\windows\system32\rsaueng.exe

4. Reboot into normal mode and post a new Hijackthis log here in a reply.

Thank you SO MUCH!!! for your help.. not sure how i'll ever repay you. Here is my new logfile - I did see a bman.exe in addition to the bman1.exe1 that you asked me to delete -- but I left it because I thought doing what you specifically said was important here - but thought you should know it was there.

Delete the bman.exe

1. Open Hijackthis and click scan. Then tick and fix the following in Hijackthis with all windows closed except Hijackthis.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [47oU36g] rsmxzoom.exe

2. Delete the files.

c:\windows\rsmxzoom.exe or c:\windows\system32\rsmxzoom.exe

3. Then post a new Hijackthis log here in a reply.

Your log is clean :tazz:

Here are some tips, to reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future, I strongly recommend installing the following applications:
  • Spywareblaster <= SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed.
  • Spywareguard <= SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.
  • How to use Ad-Aware to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Ad-Aware.
  • How to use Spybot to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Spybot. Similar to Ad-Aware, I strongly recommend both to catch most spyware.
To protect yourself further:
  • IE/Spyad <= IE/Spyad places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (Cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
  • MVPS Hosts file <= The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your coputer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer
  • Google Toolbar <= Get the free google toolbar to help stop pop up windows.
I also suggest that you delete any files from "temp", "tmp" folders. In Internet Explorer, click on "Tools" => "Internet Options" => "Delete Files" and select the box that says "Delete All Offline Content" and click on "OK" twice. Also, empty the recycle bin by right clicking on it and selecting "Empty Recycle Bin". These steps should be done on a regular basis.
