I'm hoping someone can help me with my problem.
I turned my computer on a few days ago, and everything seemed to be locked, after rebooting, I can now view files but thats it.
The problem is, many programs do not work, including my antivirus (Avast), my network program (Network Magic) and the System Restore function.
Also, I cannot copy my files to cd or memory stick to put them onto another computer, I can copy them, but the paste button won't work, I also cannot move any files at all.
Going through the process instructed before posting a Hijack This log, the ATF cleaner worked, however when trying the system restore point, it gives the following message 'The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click OK to Terminate the application.
So, I moved onto the next step, Erunt backed up the registry as said.
Trying to install Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware gave all sorts of problems, it seemed to install the program, but gave the following error 3 times on the way to installing it ( 'Run-time error '372' Failed to load 'vbalgrid' from vbalsgrid6.0cx. Your version vbalsgrid6.0cx may be outdated. Make sure you are using the version of the control that was provided with your application.) Once installed it asked to update and launch the program, and I agreed to it. It brought up the same error twice more and did not open or update.
Trying to open the program from the program list brings the same error again.
Note, I tried to rename the file as suggested and that brought the same errors up again.
Avast then found no infected files at all.
I could not update Windows, the internet explorer program will not run.
I have done reboot a few times, and it doesnt seem to make any difference (although it does a system check every time and always finds corrupted files that it repairs).
