hey need help on an amd 64 fx. A friend has had it for awhile and is giving it to me and it is unopen and was wondering if it is still a good processor, would it work with a 9800gtx? would it still have the computer work to its full potential? will it work with vista? any help would be great thanks.

The graphics card is irrelevant.
You need to put it in a board, pop a heatsink and fan on it, and then you'll know if it's any good.

well its the older 64 fx 60 with the soket 939 so i would think its about as good as an antholon 6000. Also i wouldnt think it would be able to run vista seeing that its from 2006, but any help would be nice on what this processor can do. Just a reminder it is unopen so it should work fine.
Hope u can help me.

Vista requires a 1ghz single-core CPU. The AMD FX-60 is a 2.6ghz dual-core CPU. It is more than capable of running Vista to the fullest extent.

The FX-60 was the best processor available in its day. Of course, more recent CPUs like the Intel Core 2s and the AMD Phenoms are much better, but the FX-60 is still a decent CPU. For comparison, it is faster than any other socket 939 CPU, and faster than any Intel Pentium 4 or Pentium D.
