Hi,

I deleted a sheet from a spreadsheet that I was using by accident. I then saved the file by a new name and tried to recover the old.

I have managed to recover a .XAR file but cannot open it in Excel.

If I open Excel it does not recognise that the .XAR file is there and does not offer to open it by default. The .XAR file's location is C:\Documents and Settings\cain.ullah\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel

I have tried copying the .XAR file and renaming it to XLS but when opening the XLS in Excel I get a message saying: "The file you are trying to open '~ar491D.xls' is in a different format than specified by the file extension. Verify that the file is not corrupted and is from a trusted source before opening the file. Do you want to open the file now?

When I open it it seems to be quite garbled with sopme XML formatting in there as well.

I have attached the *.XAR and the *.XLS

Any help would be gratefully received.

Cain
