I'm fighting off a download.trojan, but to do so requires me to open XP in safe mode (Norton has identified the file and location, but cannot repair or quarentine it..I'm trying to go in a delete it manually). Clicking F8 gets me to the prompt on start-up, but safe mode won't engage when I select it. Am I just screwed or what? Thanks!

have you tried selecting safe mode with command prompt? if not and it works then you can remove the file in DOS...for instructions on how to use the command prompt for deleting files and anything else go to www.computerhope.com/msdos.htm...good luck...if you want todo a little less work i'm sure someone else will reply and either give yuo a better solution or at least post the DOS commands for you.
