Ok so i downloaded the free version of bitdefender to my asus laptop with vista on it and soon after i had to restart it. Well upon reboot it said it closed improperly and now my desktop freezes or it freezes before it even gets there. or the mouses doesnt click anything and the keyboard doesnt respond. it was interfering with the internet connection on another one of my laptops so i uninstalled it and it works fine now.

I bought BitDefender too. As soon as I put SP 1 on Vista, problems started. I am not a fan of BitDefender. Some it its functions mysteriously turn them selves off. I use Avast (free edition). That with McAfee site advisor on Firefox and Windows Defender and a good dose of common sense (misnamed, it's not so common) and I have viruses or spyware-----ever.

My recommendation is download the uninstall tool from the BitDefender web site. The only safe way. Then run CCleaner on the system, then use Auslogics Registry Defragmenter and you should be good to go.

As it turns out you cant have multiple Anti Virus programs on your computer. I had to go to the Geek Squad and they had to repair my Uninstall tool or whatever so that bitdefender could be uninstalled. The problems caused by too many AV programs broke it or something? Anyways, they repaired that and so i uninstalled it. It works fine now. My other computer on the other hand is dead.

Your absolutely correct. The virus definitions of one will conflict with the scan of the other. I found that Revo Uninstaller is the best all-around to removed all the traces of any installation except Norton or BitDefender (I'm not sure about McAfee or any others). I paid for 3 year 3 computer license for BitDefender, but only kept in on my computers for 3 months. Then I gave up. Everytime Microsoft had an update, something would break in BitDefender. Uninstalls of many programs (but especially anti-virus programs) can reek havoc on your system. General Rule: Make a restore point before an installation and make one after too. Can't hurt. Might help.
