Hello all. My computer was infected by the IncrediFind virus/spyware/headache. I downloaded the IncrediFind removal tool and it says that's it gone. I ran SpyBot, AdAware and Norton and they all come back clean; however, I still cannot connect to the Internet.

I can still send and receive e-mail, chat programs like AIM and ICQ still work like normal and I can continue to play online games, so it's not a DSL connection problem.

This is my HijackThis log:

I would advise you to uninstall:
ViewPoint manager
under Add/Remove Software

Check the items listed below in HijackThis, close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {20EC3D2D-33C1-4C9D-BC37-C2D500688DA2} - (no file)
O1 - Hosts: 12.129.205.209 search.netscape.com12.129.205.209 sitefinder.verisign.com

O2 - BHO: NavErrRedir Class - {5D60FF48-95BE-4956-B4C6-6BB168A70310} - (no file)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ViewMgr] C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe

O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present

O9 - Extra button: WeatherBug - {AF6CABAB-61F9-4f12-A198-B7D41EF1CB52} - C:\Program Files\AWS\WeatherBug\Weather.exe (HKCU)
O16 - DPF: {00000EF1-0786-4633-87C6-1AA7A44296DA} - http://www.addictive.../ATPartners.cab

O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} (RdxIE Class) - http://207.188.7.150...ip/RdxIE601.cab

Then reboot and try using IE to connect. If it still doesn't work in IE click Tools > Internet Options > Programs Tab > Reset Websettings.

Let me know,

Heathen,

Did you try an alternate browser?

Like for example Opera: http://www.opera.com/
Or FireFox: http://www.mozilla.o...oducts/firefox/

It would help in diagnosing what is going on if you did and let me know if you can surf the web using one of those or not.

Up until now direct Internet access from my home computer had been impossible.

I downloaded FireFox and copied it here. It works fine. Internet Explorer still does not.

Good. So it is something in IE's settings that is blocking it.

How does it feel to be surfing again. :tazz:

Can you try a few links for me with IE and let me know what happens when you click them? Copy & paste them in the address bar.

Good.
So browsing to a local folder worked.
Can you try this link:

ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/

All I need to know is if it gets you there.
Just seeing if it is the http protocol or anything going online.

Windows cannot access this folder. Make sure you typed the file name correctly and that you have permission to access this folder.

Details:
A connection with the server could not be established.

It should have shown in HijackThis but it can't hurt to doublecheck.

In Tools> Internet Options> Connections tab > Settings in IE see if there is a checkmark in the 'use a proxy for this connection'
If so remove it.

Also on the Connections tab, see if you find any connections that should not be there.

Can you give me a link to the Incredifind remover you used?
