If I wipe my computer and then reinstall vista do you think that it will fix my problems with my sound drivers, and will it fix my windows media player which is no longer acknowledging anything plugged into a usb port? and number 2 which is my brother's concern if I do that will I have problems with microsoft because I have already registered that product key with this computer? My thought on that is that it shouldn't affect it because they'll be able to look and see that it's on the same computer it was before. What do you guys think?

1) Probably if the issues are caused by issues with Vista. No if the issues are hardware related. But you'll know one way or the other after a rebuild.

2) It'll be fine. You may need to activate by phone but its freephone anyway and you very rarely need to speak to anybody.
