I have this problem that I only recently became aware of. I cannot install any program at all. I also cannot update my spyware cleaners so I can't even figure out if I have anything. McAfee doesn't see anything wrong.

I have to tell you that I had gotten that awful Rogue.VistaAntivirus2008 back in July 2007. I am pretty sure I've fixed it but I may be wrong.

Ever since then, I cannot install anything, my gmail notifier stopped working, I can't connect to certain things like IRC chats, my screen randomly blinks white (it's fast and noticeable but it's not as big of an issue as the rest). I've asked my friends what to do since some of them are computer geeks. They aren't sure what it could be.

I've thought of reformatting my computer but I'm not THAT computer savvy. I am afraid of destroying my laptop. I don't want to buy a new one either if this one is just fine.

I'm at a loss here.

Hello Sara Uzu...

Some of your problems can be caused by malware so let's let our malware experts have a look first thing.

Please go to the Malware Forum and follow the instructions found there.

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself...then post the requested logs in a new topic HERE. Be patient, the Malware Forum is a very busy place and a two or three day wait is not unusual. DO NOT REPLY TO OR BUMP YOUR OWN LOG. If it shows a reply it may be overlooked as one that is being worked on.

If you are still having problems after getting a clean bill of health from the malware expert, please return to this thread.
