even though I have my laptop plugged in the charging light is not on and it shows i am running off the battery we have only had laptop about a year it had been working fine up to a few days ago and seemed to be going off and on do you think it is the cord or the battery

it could be the cord, the battery, or the PSU inside of the laptop that transfers the power from the cord to the battery.....it's really hard to tell without having a spare battery and power cord
