Hello to All,

First off I want to thank you all for your help.

I took your suggestion and did I clean install with the resource you gave me. Didn't go smoothly but it's finally done. The only problem is that when I try to log on to the internet it doesn't detect my modem. IT tells me that I need to configure a modem. I used the system restore cd and installed the modem and it shows up on device manager but the internet provider still doesn't detect it. What can I do?
Any ideas will be appreciated.

Was there any software for the modem? Is it a cable/DSL/56K modem?

If it is a dial up modem it sounds like a software conflict if the device manager is seeing it. If it is a HCF or win modem you have to have the exact driver installed for it to work properly. ALSO check to see if it is a v90 or kflex or X2. Most internet providers are getting away from kflex. Also check to see if you have network neighborhood installed and that you have you microsoft client and adapter installed. MOST OF THE TIME on a clean install windows will not install this automaticlly you have to set it up and install it after you have windows up and running. It could be many things to include conflicting with your soundcard on the same IRQ and port. I have experianced in the past to having to take every card out of the motherboard and putting the modem in only letting it recoginize it and then placing everything else back in just so it would not use up all of the system resources to the soundcard. Reason for this is because there are a lot of different things on modems and soundcards that use drivers and system resources that we never use. Example: I not a gammer so i have no use for a joystick. But this takes up system resources that need to go to the modem.
