3-4 days ago i made a windows repair because a file called hal.dll was missing from system32.Now Everything works perfectly except the fact that i don't have any sound in the internet .
I have tried this:

Alright the problem is really the mapping of wavemapper in Windows registry as reported by one member of the forum. All you need to do is to open registry editor by going to Start menu, Run, typing regedit and then Enter. After that, in the registry editor, walk yourself through the tree in the left pane, till you reach

My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32

And then on the right pane, right click and click on New, select String value, enter "wavemapper" (without quots of course), ENTER, type "msacm32.drv", ENTER.

Close the editor. No need to restart. Video on Google and YouTube et al would work fine now.


But the problem is that i have done it but nothing happens.Please if anyone could help me i would appreciate.

I don't want to overstep boundaries on GeeksToGo tech help but this is what Microsoft says will fix the problem. the tech support here is great.

Resolution:-
1.Open Control Panel.
2.Double Click to open Sounds and Audio Devices.
3.Click Sounds tab.
4.Scroll down to Windows Explorer, which is present under the Programs events.
5.Select Complete Navigation and Start Navigation.
Click OK/Apply.

Actually i have Mozilla Firefox 3.0.5.And neither Mozilla nor internet explorer is one of the options in sounds tab.

you're not looking for internet explorer. You are looking for windows explorer

I don't fully understand in the 5 you say what do you mean select.The only thing i can do is to choose a sound or to make it have no sound.

The ones with lines next to them are the ones you need to make sure are checked The little speaker icon will show up next to the lines if you have done it right.

Ok, if I understand correctly then. You can listen to a cd or watch a movie with no problem. The only problem is then just online that you don't hear sounds?If that is right you may have a registry entry that is not right or a plugin that hasn't been installed. Can you send a link with a site you are having problems with and I'll take a look at it?
When one of the techs answers they may have a better ideal on what is going on but I think you are missing a plugin for sound online.

Download no_sound_in_browsers.reg file to your desktop.
Double click on it, and allow registry merge.
Restart computer.

Broni i have tried this but still no luck.
