Hi

Here is the link for the linksys pci device driver, you will have to just have to select the proper version for you device.

Are you still using this Agere Systems PCI-SV92PP Soft Modem if this device isn't installed any more I would uninstall it.

I see you have Frostwire installed:

It is our recommendation here at G2G that you uninstall this program.(this is optional)

These types of programs are highly targeted to distribute viruses and other forms of malware.

You can't verify the validity of the file you intend to download. You may think you are downloading good files but they can be masked to carry bad payloads.

Plus with many computers becoming infected and becoming "drones:"

The creator can make the computer propagate the virus from infected computers via P2P programs like this one, and others.

On top of that there are times when they cause problems in the operating system and its stability.

I see that you have InterActual Player installed:

I have been reading alot of bad stuff about this program. This program tracks alot of your movements and habits, and sends them to third parties without your consent.

It also has the capability to restrict how you use your dvd burner.

Since you have Power DVD installed you don't need this program.

It is my advice that you remove this program from your computer.
Uninstall through add\and remove programs

Then go to C:\programfiles and make sure that it is removed.

Then double check that is gone using SIW again.

You also may be able to use C cleaner (if it is visible there) to uninstall it, if you can't find it in your Add\remove programs.

Just to warn you that this program was installed to your computer from DVD's you have purchased. It prompts you to install or not. Always click NO.

I also see that you have Quicktime installed:

Here is a link to a lighter version Quicktime Alternative this requires less system resources.

QuickTime Alternative will allow you to play QuickTime files (.mov, .qt, .3gp and other extensions) without having to install the official QuickTime Player

I also see that you have Adobe Reader 9.1

you can uninstall this and Use Foxit Reader:

this replace's Adobe reader:

Foxit Reader is a free utility that includes some tools that Adobe lacks, including a "typewriter" tool that lets you type text over any PDF, and edit any of the text they contain. not just files that have been set with form fields.
Foxit launches very quickly (in about one second) and it requires no installation... It allows you open, view, print, and change the page layout in PDF files. For some functions, such as the typewriter function, FoxIt Reader shows an ad for FoxIt Reader Pro. However, these functions still work with minor limitations.

Let me know what your decision is with all of this. And if it works.

Good Luck

Hey Cbarnard,

I found out that Linksys never released a new firmware for the wireless card at all since it first came out. I decided to keep Agere Soft Modem because I use it to fix my internet when my wireless internet stops working for some reason. I also decided to keep Frostwire because I am pretty sure as to which ones are fake. The Interactual player I uninstalled because my dvd burner really seemed to work in a very complicated and confusing manner. I didn't install the last two because I don't use those programs very much. I got a blue screen last night after closing a program and windows folder simultaneously.

Sincerely,
Grubub

Hey Cbarnard,

I got about 4 random blue screens today and one of them was a new one. It told me to run the Driver Verifier and suggested enabling special pool.

Hey Cbarnard,

I did the verifier.exe thing and i enabled special pool. I was playing warcraft 3 when someone instant messaged me. THe game minimized then suddenly i got a new blue screen. This time it said something about phooks.sys doing something. So as in all the other blue screens I get, I turned off the PC with the power button but this time i got the same blue screen again with a pink patch in it after the Windows XP "Welcome" screen. ( forgot to mention the pink fuzzy little box that is somewhere on the screen in each blue screen) I did this 5 times more, even took out the power cord but to no avail. So, I went into Safe mode and disabled the verifier.exe and the special pool option. I also searched the files and deleted phooks.sys which was in windows/system32/drivers. Now, the computer is back on to its "normal" state. Decided to share this with you.

Sincerely,

Hey Grubub

Sorry I have been away a lot of work to do.

Just got thought:

What is the brand and model of your ram, and what are your current timing set at?

Are your memory DIMM slots fully populated?

If you can go with out your wifi I would remove that from the pci ports and see if the computer stops BSOD.

Are you still having the IRQ equal issues still?

Again I'm sorry

Good luck

Hey Cbarnard!

It's fine. I believe I have 4 Samsung RAM sticks that give me a total of 2gb RAM. My PC is currently running at 2.2 ghz, did not overclock it at all. My slots are all filled in and I kind of need wireless because my router can only be put in the second floor of my house. Ever since I deleted the phooks.sys and disabled special pool in verifier.exe, I have not gotten a single BSOD!

Sincerely,
Grubub

Good I'm glad it has been treating you better. I thought you meant by "normal" you meant it was still giving you bsod's.

My inquiry into the ram, and whether you were fully populated.
When your DIMMS are fully populated, most of the time it is necessary to back the ram off from full speed, if you experience BSOD. I built a quad core with 4x2gb =8gb 1066mhz ram, and a Gigabyte video card. It wouldn't stop bsod until I backed ram timing to 800mhz, after that it was fine.

I don't know what speeds yours is running at but I would try that if your problems persist

Phook.sys was a driver file from a Panda AV (Antivirus) program.

It was ok to remove as you aren't using their software.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Good Luck

No problem Grubub,

I'm glad I was able to help to some extent...

If you do have any more, please PM me and give me the link to this thread. I will lose my subscription to it after 14 days so I will not likely see the reply, I don't want to keep you waiting.
