Microsoft Works Error

The problem I am having is.... a saved document was opened and altered in Microsoft Works, when the document was later re-opened the file contained none of the original text. It is just a blank document. It hasn't been saved differently and I am wondering if this has anything to do with the option to the revert to saved error in MS Word. Sadly this file was not just my killer recipe for clam chowder, it was a 15-page African History take home test. Please help me recover my document!!!
