Tonight when I right click on a folder with my mouse I lose all of the icons on my desktop for 10 to 15 seconds and a also lose the icons on the task bar and several on the right side don't come back until I reboot. The problem started when I right clicked on a folder while setting up a backup using Norton Ghost 9.

I have XP Pro, SP2, my install cd is SP1 and I recently installed the recovery console on my hard drive with one of the malware removal tools and I can't remember how to access it.

Running Chkdsk didn't help and System Restore will not restore any check points.
