My All Programs list is populated with some programs showing an icon e.g. Firefox and some showing a blank folder symbol e.g. Google Earth or Avast anti virus. On the desktop the shortcuts to both display the appropriate proprietory icon which is easily and quickly recognisable. The same is the case in the"most regularly used" section of the Start menu and in the toolbar. Is there a simple way that I can get the proprietory symbol in the list of programs to show in the same way as it does in Toolbar and Desktop, instead of the blank folder symbol. The folder symbol (when clicked) opens to show all the parts of the program that I may wish to use complete with icons!
It is so much simpler quickly running your eye down a line of recognisable icons than reading the folder titles. Why do some programs produce such an icon and others do not? It also create two different alphabetical lists!
Customising an icon using properties in the Control panel doesn’t get me access to the proprietory icon only to range of Windows icons which I not what I want.
Thanks for any help that can be given.
