i have a malware registry issue windows xp (i do have my disk)

i am basically stuck in the log in log off loop. i have tried to copy in the wsaupdater.exe but it did not help. it gave me an error each time. also one other unique thing. I have tried to reinstall xp but i cannot when i get to the accept terms screen my f8 key does not work. so i am stumped, for the moment any ideas would be useful.

Does your F8 key work other times, or does it only stop working when you have to accept the EULA?
Do you have all your files backed up? Are you going to do a destructive reinstall, or not format the partition on which you are going to install Windows?
