With this nail.exe and generic backdoor.i thing going on, I can't securely do anything on my computer w/o fear of being watched. I downloaded EWIDO and cleaned my computer. I also downloaded HijackThis and will post my newest log below. I have McAfee and for about two weeks, I was getting coninuous messages from McAfee saying that they detected two trojans (generic and nail) and that they had both been deleted to complete the cleaning process. However, after the first message, I continued to get the same message serval times a day after that. Clearly, it seemed as though it hadn't been deleted. When I would boot up, I would get a message in the middle of it telling me that the computer hadn't been able to find nail.exe, as though I had asked it to search for it when I hadn't even finished booting up! So, after getting the message more than once, I went to Windows search and typed in NAIL.EXE and searched in C drive. It found it right away. It was in C/windows/NAIL.EXE. That's when I first contacted you. Since I hadn't gotten a response real soon (not that I expected it, I know you are very busy helping people for free and all) I contacted Dell (my computer maker). I was hoping they might be able to tell me how to manually remove it since McAfee obviously wasn't and AVG wasn't picking up that it was even there! I actually went to the McAfee website and printed their instructions on how to manually remove a trojan but when I went into the system configuration editor and looked for load= and run= (like they told me), they were there. That's when I contacted DELL. Dell suggested I just unsintall Windows completely and start over, thus deleted everything I have ever done on my computer (I have way to many files to burn to CD and they might be infected and I'd just re-infect my computer). I thought that was an asinine idea so I talked with McAfee. They told me if I didn't want to PAY for service with an agent, I'd have to use the self-help area which is where I got the manual removal instriuctions from. The bottom line is that I can't do anything on my computer until I know this has been taken care of. I'm a college student which means I do a lot of paper-writing and I'm not willing to lose those. I can't even access personal information like my Bank Account, my school website (which I have to access for one of my classes). My problem isn't any more important than anyone elses, but this computer is almost brand new. I bought it in February and if something happens to it, I can't afford to replace or fix it. PS: Now when I search for NAIL.EXE, nothing comes up. I haven't even done anything different! Also, my memory has been extremely low since this has started. I went from 90% free to 70% free virtually overnight.
