picasa stalled and closed and now no pitures in (My Pictures)

I was using Picasa 3 and it was stalling out so I shut it down and went into my pics and all the pics were gone. Took it to a recovery place and all they were able to do was recover 10,000 IE pics I clicked on??? So thery were in My Pictures and linked to picasa 3 now nothing. Did a search and nothing also tried windows restore...
Any suggestions??
