For a while now, every time I restart my computer I get a CONTINUOUS runbatch.exe error (until I somehow freeze it by running too many things at once). When searching for runbatch.exe, my computer can not find the file, yet it's in the processes list. I'm also having a problem getting rid of this firedaemon.exe.

My computer is...well...dirty in my eyes. I've been using a large number of virus scanners and other things to help clean it up but *before* I started using a larger variety of protective devices, all this nasty stuff happened. Well...here's the log heh.

Hi Krakov, welcome to GTG! <_<

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://www.fastseeker.com/search.html
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = localhost
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SysUpd] C:\WINNT\sysupd.exe

Reboot in safe mode (by tapping F8 at startup and select safe mode from the menu).
Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files in bold (if found):
C:\WINNT\sysupd.exe

Reboot your PC.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log, and let us know how your system's working. :D

I followed your instructions and I did not find a file called sysupd.exe in the C:\WINNT\ directory (although you did say "if found").

I restarted my computer and continued to get the runbatch.exe error
"runbatch.exe has generated erros and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created."

This error (for the past few months) pops up, you click cancel, and it pops up again a few seconds later. The only way I can get it to effectively stop reappearing is by searching for a file, starting up AIM, yahoo messenger, and other programs to basically freeze it I guess you could say?

But yes, the error still popped up when I rebooted my PC. I've also been told that FireDaemon.exe is a virus of some sort. Here is the fresh log.

You're correct, these files are up to no good, and don't belong there:
C:\winnt\system32\dllcache\FireDaemon.EXE
C:\WINNT\system32\dllcache\runbatch.exe

But it's probably not as easy as just removing them.

Please run a free online virus scan here:
http://housecall.antivirus.com/

And a free trojan scan here:
http://www.moosoft.com/

When finished, reboot, reply with the results, and a new Hijack This log. <_<

The Trend Micro scan didn't pick up on it, the only one that did was the PCPitStop online scan. "The Cleaner" freezes at around 19% whenever it gets to a file called ACUpdate.exe

The PCPitstop scan doesn't give me any directions on how to remove FireDaemon.exe though.

Any suggestions? eh...

Congratulations! Your system is CLEAN <_<

How do you prevent spyware from being installed again? We strongly recommend installing SpywareBlaster (it's free for personal use).

Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests.
Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.
Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.
Consumes no system resources.

Download, run, check for updates, download updates, select all, protect against checked. All done. Check for updates every couple of weeks. If you have any errors running the program like a missing file see the link at the bottom of the javacool page.

It's also very important to keep your system up to date to avoid unnecessary security risks. Click Here to make sure that you have the latest patches for Windows.

These next two steps are optional, but will provide the greatest protection.
1. Use ANY browser besides Internet Explorer, almost every exploit is crafted to take advantage of an IE weakness. We usually recommend Firefox.
2. Install Sun's Java. It's much more secure than Microsoft's Java Virtual Machine .

It's okay to delete the Hijack This folder if everything is working okay.

After doing all these, your system will be thoroughly protected from future threats. :D
