I have been making flashy signatures for gaming forums for several years now, but have recently run into a snag.
Some internet friends from China would like for me to re-create some of them (easy for me at this point), but with
the fonts in their language characters.
I have tried in vain to download free fonts from Adobe to various paint shops and still hit the same old snaffoo.
I can not get the Korean characters to copy/save from the font program style to an image like gif, jpg, bitmap or png.
Is this possible to achieve?
I work with Photo Impact 11 (having difficulty getting the updated 13 program download atm). It has a convert option
for my PC's fonts, but I can't seem to get this particular type too that point. I have downloaded tons of other
english fonts and been very successful.
No, I don't want to change the language of my PC to chinese. :) (no personal insult intended.)

Is this a dead end?

My Web site text2image.com (http://www.text2image.com) is quite new. Has support for Japanese and Chinese characters (which probably covers Korean as well). This is remote of course - you have to gen the image on the site then download it.

If you want to display Asian characters on your system, that - independent of OS - requires you to download and install support for those character sets. On platforms I run (W2K, Unixes) it really is not too onerous. One time thing, then all of a sudden correct characters pop up everywhere e.g. initially in Web browser. Your whole system will not suddenly 'go Chinese', because it should not become your default character set.

If you are talking input of those characters (beyond merely copying and pasting from somewhere) that is considerably more effort - just because getting lots of characters from simple English-type keyboard involves various 'input methods'.

Fonts vary per OS. e.g. Microsoft has TrueType fonts covering Asian languages. Other OSs have other Asian font support (not exactly TrueType because those are MS-proprietary).

Not sure if this quite answers your question.

Thank you very much. I will check into your site and see if this works for me. I will also respond back again
to let you know. I appreciate your assistance.
:)

*Edited*

That is a nice system but it does not fit my needs. I am unable to copy/paste or save to file online korean text
and use your system to make the file jpg. I can do that on my pc, if only I could copy/paste or save to file
the korean text to begin with.
Ty for trying to help me though.
:)

Do you have the origional operating system CD? If so then put it into the computer and install languages from there. That may work.

I would like to know more about the computer you are useing.

If this is a name brand system:
Make
Model
Operating System
Age of the computer
Memory Total
Hard Drive Size, How much free space

If this is custom then We will need the following:
The CPU brand and model
The Motherboard brand and model
Ram amount and speed
Cd\Dvd rom interface IDE/ SATA
Hard Drive size and free space
Any cards in PCI slots
Any software installed\updated and driver updates done just before problem started

All this will help in determining a course of action to best correct the problem you are experiencing.

Ooo...I will try to put all the information here that I can find.
It is a used system pieced together by someone else.

Intel Inside Pentium [R] 4 CPU 1600MHz
1.59GHz, 512 MB of RAM
Tech Advanced
(Both on the tower)

Microsoft Windows XP
Professional
Version 2002
Service Pack 3

Used space 25,802,309,632 bytes 24.0GB

Free space 56,532,709,376 bytes 52.6GB

Capacity: 82,335,019,008 bytes 76.6GB

The sound card (?) quit working (a common problem with pc's & myself, don't know why).

I've recently downloaded Mozilla Firefox because IE won't let me online unless I purchase 'their' security (I run the free version of AVG).

When I tried to look at the Component Services 'Windows Firewall' blocked me.
(Just trying to get all the information I can.)

My programs are
ACDSee (for an older digital camera)
Adobe Flash Player 10 Plugin
Adobe Reader 8.1.2
Adobe Shockwave Player 11
AVG 7.5
Driver Sweeper 1.5.5
HP Photo Imaging Software
HP Photo Printing Software
J2SE Runtine Environment 5.0 Update 12
Java[TM] 6 Update 2
Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2

Microsoft Compression Client Pack 1.0 for Windows XP
Microsoft Office Live Add-in 1.3
Microsoft Office Outlook Connector

Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition [ENU]
Microsoft Sync Framework Runtime Native v1.0 [x86]
Microsoft Sync Framework Services Native v1.0 [x85]
Microsoft User-Mode Driver Framework Feature Pack 1.0
Microsoft Web Publishing Wizard 1.52
Mozilla Firefox [3.0.8]
MSN
PhotoImpact Pro
Windows Internet Explorer 7
Windows Live Essentials
Windows Live Sign-in Assistant
Windows Live Sync
Windows Live Upload Tool
Windows Media Format 11 runtime
Windows Media Player 11
Windows XP Service Pack 3
WinZip
Wonderland Online 2.0.3

Wonderland is 1 of many games run by IGG. I moderate one of their upcoming games,
Dreamland atm.

My DVD player has recently quit working as well.
Everywhere I look it tells me that it is working fine and has 0 memory?

Should I call back the person that put this together for me? It's not a legal issue or negative
one. I'm sure it's obvious I don't know a hill of beans about computers.

As someone else pointed out on this thread, you need to install language support from CD (or download from O/S Web site). When you copy characters from say another site, it may end up being stored in clipboard OK, but as soon as you paste (e.g. into document on your system or into text box/area on Web site like mine) you can not see the characters represented OK. You might just see characters like !!&%4 or a string of little boxes. Installing foreign-language support will fix it.

Note that there are a lot of conventions on how to display Asian characters on Web pages. The most platform-neutral long-term is Unicode, but there are lots of 'simpler' alternatives. This is mostly a complete non-issue for users in Asia. Without proper language support, their system would be completely unusable out-of-the-box.

Get the disploy of Asian web pages working OK in your browser first (via language packs). Then a lot of other things will suddenly start working.

One way that might work. Try typing the letter you want in a photo editor like Paint. Make the font big size. Save it as an image. Sorry if you didn't mean to do this...

As said above (I think) you could try installing language pack for those languages.
What I would do a search of the Character you need, get a High-res version of it,use the Print screen function, then paste the character into your photo editing program, that way it's an image and you don't need to install the language package for it.

Best of luck
