Hi, I recently obtained a http://www.bestbuy.c...d=1218038551741 from my grandparents. Now I plan on upgrading the CPU, Graphics card, and Power supply.

Power Supply - http://www.newegg.co...N82E16817139006

CPU - http://www.newegg.co...spx... X2 6400+

Graphics card - http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814130339

I'm know the basics somewhat about computer upgrades. This computer I was going to use for games, and was wondering if these parts are compatible with each other. What would be the best CPU. Are there other better options if so what would you suggest?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to GeeksToGo,

My name is Cbarnard I hope I may be of some assistance to you.

I see you have been waiting for a reply for a while, I apologize for this... The system building forum is very busy.

Please keep in mind this is not our job and I'm not here 24\7. It can take a little bit of time for me to reply back to you,
if it has been more than 48hrs since a reply, please PM me and I will be with you as soon as possible.

With that said lets take a look and get this problem taken care of.

The PSU that you have selected is good it gives you future expandability

For the CPU's

the 1st one you selected is a dual core, while its is a lot faster in ghz you have 4 cores in your current set up.

In order to suggest a CPU for your Motherboard I will need to know the manufacture and model of the board itself...

The second CPU you listed is NOT compatible with your current setup.

If you would like to explore building a system around that CPU I can assist you.

The graphics card you chose is good no problems...

Good luck, get back to me and I will assist you further

If the problem has been resolved please post a reply stating this is resolved. If the problem resurfaces again please reference this thread in the new thread you start.

If you continue to need assistance please reply back with requested information asked for previously in my last post.

I like to hear how things are going for the people I'm assisting, please let me know how it is going good or bad!!!

Thank you very much and good luck
