so i recently caught alot of viruses, and finally downloaded a trial version of AVG Anti-Spyware program to clean up the mess.

After the process was done and it deleted as many viruses as it could, when i restarted my computer my desktop icons and start menu were missing.

ive realized that my explore.exe is obviously missing, so i need some help in getting it back or finding it.

please help!

Hi CharlesMcCoy and Welcome! to Geeks-to Go.

I am sure that our anti-malware staff can help you. We have developed a procedure that produces the best results.

First please follow the directions here:
http://www.geekstogo...uide-t2852.html
(If you cannot complete everything, do as much as possible.)

Then start a new topic and post the requested logs only in this forum section:
http://www.geekstogo...emoval-f37.html

You will be assisted by a trained malware removal specialist.

It is important to provide details about your system- both hardware and
software, including 'security' programs installed.
Explain in detail what symptoms you are experiencing and what you have
done about it so far.
Unsupported HJT logs are more difficult to work.

Please do not "Reply" to (bump) your own log post.
Malware helpers look for "zero reply" logs first.
Remember that your helper is a very busy volunteer.
Full cooperation and regular "Thank-you's" go a long way.

If any problems remain after getting a "clean bill of health" from the HJT forum,
start a new topic in the section for your Operating System and we will assist in getting everything working properly.

Good luck, and 'Happy Hunting!'
