Just happened across this site earlier today, and was hoping someone more knowledgeable than myself about computers could assist me in finding a solution. The problem started only a few days ago to my knowledge - evidence I have would suggest it didn't start earlier. I was sick so I didn't notice until last night and have been researching it since. Here is the summation of my problem.

- Everytime I try browse the internet (firefox or IE) the application will close automatically either after I have visited two or three pages, or within 15 seconds of opening. If I stay on a single page that I open with the program initially (when using restore) I can browse freely though..
- I cannot enter my regedit without it closing within 5 seconds. I generally don't tamper with it aside from LOCALMACHINE/SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/WINDOWS/CURRENTVERSION/RUN and only then if I see something suspicious and am 100% sure it is malicious... Now when I try to enter it My computer does a "soft" restart of windows (every application closes and windows acts as if I just logged on).
- I cannot update windows using windows update ( I receive Error number: 0x80072EFF after waiting for around 5 minutes), and my antivirus AVG has stopped updating since the 26th of march - it usually updates every day at 08:00. Leads me to believe that it was fairly recent, but I don't recall downloading or installing anything since then.

I've tried to do a system restore to before the 25th, but there was no change. After that I restarted in safe mode and updated AVG to most recent definitions and did a virus scan, CCleaner, and ran SuperANTISPYWARE. Nothing really helped aside from the fact that regedit now does the soft restart instead of kicking me out after 5 seconds. I have run the hijackthislog and looked for somewhat suspicious entires, but am reluctant to screw around there without an expert's advice. Here is my log:
