I am having a great deal of trouble installing Windows Service Pack 2. I have tried several times now, but every attempt fails miserably. The download initializes properly, but about half way through I get a message saying "Access is denied." Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No, that's not going to help. For some reason my registry keys are locked, and Windows Service Pack 2 is unable to access them. It is for this reason that I cannot update, but I do not know how to unlock them.

Mark10-
I feel your pain... I am having the very same problem with going from SP2 to SP3... and it appears to be a registry problem, likely created by some malware...

Go to the malware removal guide on this forum and do it... it will help...

Mine is apparently a bit too far gone... I am getting ready to do an XP restore/repair to try and get to a healthy registry before trying to update to SP3 again.

Oy vay...
