Need some info
Make and model

Usually on most of the sd cards there is a little white tab on the side. Have you tried sliding it over and then inserting it to see if that will unprotect it?
If that doesn't work I have researched some of the problem and allot of people are putting a piece of tape over the slider
Be careful not to interfere with the connection part of the card.
This seems to be a common problem with almost every sd card.
I will await your response to further offer any help you may need.

Just looked at my SD card. There is a small slide lock on it at one edge which yours might have. Make sure it is not in the lock position.
