Firefox "save" function missing....

I transferred some files between flash drives and deleted a couple in the process. At the same time Firefox 'save' quit. No 'save page as' under 'file,' no 'save image as..' when right-clicking.
'View image' works fine and all 'save' functions work fine in IE8. I reinstalled Firefox 3.0.8 which didn't help....
