I'm not really sure what info I need to share (or exactly how to get it). I think my PC is infected. Ran Microsoft OneCare last night and it detected six issues. This morning, I downloaded the trial version of OneCare (I use Verizon Internet Security Suite, but it didn't pick up these Trojans). Rebooted per the install instructions. Now, I can't connect to the internet. I'm on our laptop which is wirelessly connected to our home network. So, I don't think the reason I can't get the PC to connect is due to our ISP?

The OneCare saftey scanner wasn't able to clean this item:

Trojan:Win32/Alureon.gen!C
c:\windows\system32\uacosuuutam.dll
c:\windows\system32\uacbpfhxvnf.dll

What do I do? Where do I start?

Thanks in advance,
Marinda

Edited to add:

I don't know if it matters, but my here is my system info: Windows XP Home edition version 2002 Service Pack 2 (I've tried several times to download SP3, but it won't let me - says access is denied?).

2nd Edit:

Could the internet connect problem be related to the SP3? It tried to install this morning in the midst of this mess. Of course, access was denied again. I think I may have rebooted during the software update removal... I went in to the Remove Unwanted Programs list and Service Pack 3 was listed. I am currently restarting that removal... and crossing my fingers! :)

3rd Edit:

Ok, I'm able to connect to the internet now. SP3 was removed. Ran Verizon Internet Security Suite's Spyware scan and deleted Alureon VW. Rebooted. And was able to connect to the internet. I am currently running Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and it already says I have 31 infected objects?!?
