I've noticed that a large number of computer problems here are fixed by using logs such as the hi jack this log that I see admins requesting all the time. I would really like it if someone would not mind sitting with me for a while to help me learn how to read these logs to help me diagnose my own computers as well as others computers. thx in advance.

Thanks for the information. I saw that, but I was not sure if I wanted to apply just yet, but hey, it'll just kick me up another level. I just signed up.

Hi Oreo,

I'm nearing the end of my freshman status(hopefully) :) in Geek U and it has been exciting for me. HJT logs are supposed to be only posted in the malware forums and are primarily used on Geekstogo.com for malware related issues.

You should try it out if that interests you. I like it so far!

I can't wait to get started. After browsing several forums this one looks promising. Though I have only been here for a couple days, most my team at work has seen me browsing it. When I jump into something I like to jump in with both feet. ^_^

We definitely can use the help on the Malware Team. Welcome aboard the GTG team. :)

Maybe Major Payne can provide more details but from what I understand GeekstoGo has some of the best Malware specialists in the world on staff. They even have some staff that have written the programs you use to research and/or fight malware.

So far I have been impressed. I joined the site in December, and I joined Geek U about a month ago.

After applying how long does it usually take before I hear back about weather the application was approved or not? I know it hasn't been long since I applied, but I was just looking for an aproximate ETA.

It took about 2-3 days for me. A staff member at the time said it would be about 24 hours, so it doesn't take long. I'm not sure if everyone gets accepted or how that works, but I don't think you have to have "a ton" of computer knowledge or anything.

I didn't know anything about malware when I got accepted.

Well, I wouldn't say I have a ton of computer knowledge, but I know enough to get me by with little to no help. I'd just like to expand my abilities and help others. I think I got a pretty good shot though. *Crosses fingers.*

It could take up to a week to get approval, although it's not usually that long. It depends on how quickly we can review the applications.

I got a response about 15 minutes later :). (Kat rocks :) )

Hope you have fun in GeekU! :)

...I'll be applying, too...as soon as I get a resolution on a small issue I'm having (note that you can't apply if you have an open malware/spyware issue)...
