Hello markees,

Few questions, when you reset IE, did you do it under the Advanced tab in the Internet Options window?

And, after you cleaned out the temp files and ran a disk defragmenter, did you restart your computer?

Yup, I did the Internet Options --> Advanced --> Restore IE Settings.

I'm not sure if I rebooted immediately after the defrag, but I have rebooted since.

Hello markees,

Please boot into safe mode and see if you still have this problem with IE.

To boot into safe mode.

1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.
5) Select your normal user account.

To exit safe mode, just restart your computer.

Hey Jimmy, safe mode didn't help. I booted up in safe mode, and IE was STILL slow to open. Safari and Firefox opened normally though.

Hello markees,

I am not sure why IE would still be going slow like this, other then that are you having any other problems?

No other problems. Everything else is running normally. Is it possible to re-install IE?

Hello markees,

Is it possible to re-install IE?

Yea, I believe so. But before trying anything like that, please try the following and see if we can find any errors.

Please start up IE and after it loads, close it off and then do the following.

Please go into the Event Viewer and see what errors occurred at the time you started IE.

Click START-->RUN and type EVENTVWR.MSC and hit ENTER.

Look under SYSTEMS AND APPLICATIONS for items with RED X's that happened at the SAME time as you started IE....Please list them here.

Hey Jimmy, I didn't see any errors listed. There was no "Systems and Applications" section, but there was one for both "Application" and "System". Again, no red X's in either for that particular time.

Hello markees,

I am out of ideas on why your IE is acting like this, I recommend that you start a new topic in the XP forum and see if someone there has some ideas on what is causing this.

Sorry I could not help out more with IE.

Hey don't worry about it, it seems to be less a problem and more an annoyance. Anyways, THANK YOU for fixing the redirect problem! I really appreciate it!
