Ok that answers the problem. I posted a link directly to Mediafire and the ISO file only. I unzipped the zip file, extracted the ISO and uploaded it for you.
Can you click on the link I supplied in post 35 and get the ISO only file I have supplied.
This should be saved to your desktop for easy access. Then follow the burncdcc instructions

Thats confusing. May be we should have him try another iso file (just anything just to see if any iso will work). Time to try the following (I do not believe we have done this yet).

Go to start......run......type in cmd and hit ok.
In the open box....type in chkdsk /r Note the space before the /r

It will most likely tell you it is use and ask to do it on reboot. Type Y and enter
Reboot the computer and let it do its thing. It will look like it pauses, that is ok, just let it finish.
When it is done it will boot to windows.

Also, right click on the taskbar and open up task manager.
Look at the process tab and watch for a high CPU usage and mem usage. Maybe that will give us a clue.

Do we know what hard disk manufacturer he is using?
He can go to the disk manufacturers web site and get the diagnostics. Unfortunately they are either floppy or CD (iso).

I need to leave shortly, so I will be unavailable.

Did you get the file from mediafire and burned to a cd ?
If so are you running the test?

OK I have finally duplicated what is going on.
Depending on which browser you are using follow the instructions below

IE
click on file
SAVE
when asked where to save click on Desktop
Now burn the single file to cdrom and follow instructions fron burncdcc

Firefox
Click on file
Make sure you click on Save File and not Open with
Save to desktop
Now burn the single file to cdrom and follow instructions from burncdcc

This is the only way you will get the iso file I have been trying to get to you. If you are trying to open the single file I uploaded for you then you will see the Boot folder and the img file. You are going to many steps and thats the problem. Please let me know if this works now.

Unzip the zip file. The unzipped stuff will contain an ISO file.

Use an ISO burning program to burn (NOT copy) the ISO to a disk. Burning an ISO places the startup files in the correct location on the disk so it's bootable - a copy cannot do this.

From paragraphs 3 & 4 of this post: http://usasma.vox.co...iagnostics.html

If you do not have a disk burning program that's capable of burning ISO images to your CD drive, I suggest this free tool: http://isorecorder.a...isorecorder.htm Select the appropriate version by following the instructions, Install the program, then reboot your system.
FYI - an ISO burner will place files in a certain order on the disk, this is what makes the disk bootable. You CANNOT just copy the file to a CD - it won't work!

Insert the blank CD into the CD drive and dismiss any dialogs that may pop up. Then right click on the ISO file that you downloaded and select "Copy Image to CD" (it should be the top choice on the context (right click) menu. Follow the prompts to record the image. Remember that the slower the speed you select, the less likely it is that there will be errors in the burn process. Most disk images are small, so the process shouldn't take very long even at the slowest speed.

Let's backup and look at this a minute. When you download the file from mediafire, Do not open it or unzip it, what is the name of the file you download?
Second when you download and install burncdcc what files is it not registering?

Ok you want to burn memtest86+2.11.iso
everything is inside that will allow the cd to boot. DO NOT unzip the file
this is why you are having problems. Burn the ISO file to cd as a ISO. If you have downloaded burncdc then it will see the ISO file
