Hi,

I'm trying to perform the preliminary actions listed in the Malware and Spyware Cleaning Guide, but cannot update Malwarebytes. Each time I try to Update, a Windows error message appears ("Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware has encountered a problem and need to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience") and shuts down. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing Malwarebytes, to no avail.

Is there an alternative program I can use to diagnose this machine and generate a log to post in this forum?

Thanks.

I was finally able to update Malwarebytes by going to the Malwarebyts website and downloading the database update directly.

I disabled System Restore and the Symantec AV, then ran Malwarebytes with the computer in Safe Mode and it detected "Trojan.Daonol", which I deleted then restarted the computer. I was able to update Malwarebytes normally, and am currently running another full scan...
