have you had any experience cleaning the machine once a parallel install has been done?

I am not qualified to clean malware or virus infection so I cannot say. Once Essexboy has cleaned your system of infections then hopefully the parallel install will not be needed, but if so we can work with it. If i don't know the answer there are several Techs online and they will be happy to assist me if needed.

I did the format c and reinstalled it. It turned out I didn't need the registration code because the previous owner had a "reinstall" disk, so it didn't prompt me for the key code. I do have an issue thought with a couple of error messages, which I did a new post under error message windows xp. Thanks for your help.
