recently openSolaris supported x86 platform had launched and i'm trying 2 install in my pc. Previously my cpu support x86,MMX,SSE,SSE2 instructions. But now it supports MMX,SSE,SSE2 all other instructions except x86.i check this using cpuz s/w. i think openSolaris os does not install in my pc due to cpu does not execute x86 instruction.then i tried to install that on another pc and it installed normally.can anyone tell me the exact problem, plz?
my system configuration--
motherboard--intel chipset MSI
processor-intel p4
RAM-512MB
hard disk-160GB
currently installed os-windows XP

I once tried opensolaris and found out that it was not compatible with my computer hardware. Apparently, opensolaris doesn't have good hardware support (don't quote me though).

Do you need opensolaris or can use opt to an alternative?

You have gave no indication as to what failed, what error occurred, etc. Allow me to quote the Ubuntu IRC bot:

"Doesn't work is a strong statement. Does it sit on the couch all day? Does it want more money? Is it on IRC all the time? Please be specific! Examples of what doesn't work tend to help too."

Every Intel CPU since the 8086 has supported x86. Most pentium 4s also support amd64. Your issue is not one of a wrong architecture type.
