I tried to install the gnome application. Ubuntu using gnome right? If it does, then yeah i tried to install that. I searched for gnome in the repos and installed that. I then tyoed in install-gnome and installed the meta package. About 203 things got installed. I restarted and its actually the same layout. Am i doing something wrong?

just out of interest - why have you installed gnome ?

all gnome apps will work in kde, unless you prefer gnome

http://www.mandriva.com/en/download

gives you the choice of the KDE or Gnome desktop to download

can you post the output of

urpmq --fuzzy dkms
you need to do this as root
