I have a Trojan on my Win XP and cannot even log in to my account, because as soon as it gets to the user page at startup, the computer restarts due to the Trojan. Same thing occurs even if I startup as Last Known Good Configuration. I can get in in Safe Mode, though.
I was ready to install AVG 7.0 version (free download) from a CD, but when I launch setup it tells me that the file SHELL.DLL cannot be found. Then a Window, titled "can't run 16-bit Windows program", says "cannot find file C:/DOCUME 1/ADMINI 1/LOALS 1/Temp/WZS5.tmp/setup.exe
The SHELL file actually is in the System folder, though. what is missing here for the AVG to work?
The Trojan is named Trojan Horse Downloader BF Agent, as written in the window alert at startup.
Can I fix all this myself or will I have to get Windows all reinstalled?
Thanx so much.
