It's a Everex Impact I am not sure the model number but I am sure it's like the Windows Vista Basic Home Edition.

Also, the Excel problem here is what I was reading on Microsoft about that. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919196

Did you make a backup disc when you first got the system ?

If not you may need to talk to the manufacturer to get one

I am not sure because I believe the software came pre-installed. I don't need anything on the system as of now. It's just full of crap I don't need (kids computer at first) and now I just want to wipe everything off and start from scratch.

The only way I can think of is to press the F keys in sequence when you start the computer to see if it has been reset

I tried to press every F key on boot but nothing is the recovery console. I am able to get to the advanced boot screen but repair my computer isn't present on that screen. Would I not be able to do it without the recovery console?

You would need a recovery disc or a copy of Windows Vista. As we cannot locate the recovery drive starter, I can offer no further solution I am afraid

It's okay I am just happy you got my computer on track now....who would have thought it was just a stupid glitch in AVG. I am a bit relieved of the recovery though got a lot of junk of my computer. Thanks alot I really appreciate all you have done.
