Hi,

As my title says, my C:\Windows\Installer folder is apparently missing.
I first noticed that all my MS Office icons were broken. So I ran my Vista Visual Master in attempt to change the icons, but it gave me the following error message:

C:\Windows\Installer\{90120000-0011-0000-0000-0000000...\wordicon.exe.
--------------------------------------------------------
So I excessed my Windows folder, and I realized that I cannot located Installer folder.
As of now, all my MS office applications seem to be working just fine, but it's just the icons that are missing.
Right now, I am planning to give me USB drive to one of my friends and ask him to put his Installer folder on it, so I can copy it back into my Windows folder. But really, I have no clue what the problem is.
I am using MS Office 2007, and my OS is a Windows Vista SP1 32-bit OS running on Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40 GHz in an Acer Aspire M5630 Model.
Could someone please help me with this problem?

Please download the latest version of Windows Installer(4.5)

This will install, or reinstall Windows Installer.

You could not see the Windows Installer folder because the folder was hidden. There are ways to unhide those folders.

hi

i have a slightly similar problem. After being attacked with a malware, the office source engine for the microsoft office ahs been deleted by the malware (i think), and now, i cannot open any office application because of that. I tried to follow the steps on the Setup Help but it always displays an error or two.

i hope someone can help me. thanks

However, things are getting worse after installing Windows Installer 4.5
After installing windows installer and rebooting the computer, I looked into the Windows folder and I realized I still couldn't see the Installer folder, and all my MS Office icons are still broken. Also, other hidden folders in the Windows Folder was visible. So I tried running my MS Word, but this time, it said it could not run it because it could not locate the exe file in C:\Program Files\Office bla bla, and as a matter of fact, I did not see the Office folder in the Program Files folder anymore. I did find Microsoft Office folder there, and I saw the OUTLOOK.exe file, so I tried to run that, but it failed because it could not find MSVCR80.dll. I do not see any exe files in that folder. I checked to see if I could restore the system, but I realized I hadn't made any system restore point. I really don't know what to do now.

We are going to do System File Checker.

System File Checker is a Windows utility to verify the integrity of Windows System Files and restores corruptions of Windows System Files. System File Checker is a software that is directly supported by Windows File Protection. Windows File Protection is not included in Windows Vista. Instead, Windows Vista has Windows Resource Protection. Windows Vista now can scan for and repair damaged registry keys. If any file changes are made to WinLogon (Windows Logon), then Windows Resource Protection will run to make sure files are still safe.

To run System File Checker manually, Please click start, then enter in the search box CMD, then right click on CMD (appears in the start menu window to the left) and click Run as Administrator.

In the command prompt windows, please enter the following text and press enter:

sfc /scannow

Let it run. If it disappears after a little while, it ran successfully. Please restart your computer and tell of the results, if any.

I did as you said, and there's no apparent result when i rebooted my computer.
This is the error message when I tried to open one of my docx files. At first, the installation for the update appears and then:

"This update package could not be opened. Verify that the update package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer update package."

I made sure that I downloaded the file for x86 system.
