When I turn on it goes to my desk top but has no Icons then it immediately starts flashing Saving your settings Logging off, but doesn't do anything else, just flashing that over and over. When I start it in Safe Mode it loads the SPTD.sys then starts flashing Saving your settings, Loading your personal settings over and over. Do I have a virus? What can I do? I don't have the OS disk am I SOL?
Loging off immediately

Hello, oonugoo, and welcome to Geeks to Go.
I suggest you go to the Malware Forum and run all the steps located in the START HERE. These self-help tools will help you clean up 70% of problems on your own. If you are still having problems after doing the steps, then please post a HijackThis Log in THAT forum. If you are unable to run and/or post a HJT log, then post that in your initial post in the topic you create in that forum.
If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).

What are the signs of any infection?
1. If you have Windows CD, follow the steps from here: http://icrontic.com/...pair_windows_xp
2. If you don't have Windows CD...
Download Windows Recovery Console: http://www.thecomput...om/files/rc.iso
Download, and install free Imgburn: http://www.imgburn.c...hp?act=download
Using Imgburn, burn rc.iso to a CD.
Boot to the CD...let it finish loading.
When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console.
Then, follow the steps from here: http://icrontic.com/...pair_windows_xp, starting below this picture on page 1:
