I have a Dell Dimension 3000. I have a Microsoft Precision Pro that has a game controller plug on it. My PC does not have a plug in for it.Is there an adapter that will work on it? thanks for any help in advance.

I'm guessing you have the old game port connector on the Precision Pro.
To make it work on your system you will need a adaptor like this one. this will adapt it from the old connector to USB. Then connect it into one of USB's and make sure you load the drivers for it first.
