New IE made computer slower

My son recently downloaded the new IE and now I can hardly get my computer to run. It is ridiculously slow. It was working fine before. Any suggestions?

Uninstall IE8?
Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs -> Internet Explorer 8 -> Remove

Ok, this is strange. It's not listed in the add/remove programs list. Everythign just loads really slow.
