So at this point, I think i have narrowed the culprit to generating the files on shutdown. My machine takes a long time if i go through and try to remove all the created files and try to shut down. roughly about the same amount of time to actually erase the files from the trash.

is there a registry entry for shutdown or logout execution that i can rummage through to see if something suspicious is there?

i've looked at Winlogon.exe, but nothing is odd there...???

thanks!
